Mens' Watches; not just for time anymore

Mens' watches originally were used in the united states to make sure that the train system was running on time and that there was a standard time kept so that there were no major collisions! These watches were so special that they had their own private federal standards to keep up to. The general form that the watch took on was that of the pocket watch, which consisted of just the watch face attached to a chain that fastened it to the wearers clothing. These watches were worn by men as most people in the railroad industry were all men.

In the 1900's watch makers like rolex and omega also began taking off and selling their watches next to jewelry stores and even considering the watch itself a pice of jewelry!

In the late 80's and early 90's the watches all went digital! With all the major watch makers making some type of digital watch! These watches came from companies like Casio, Timex, and Citizen, features often included a digital calculator, a digital calendar, and sometimes even a thermometer  These watches were often, if not exclusively constructed of plastic. These type of watches were also directed to men as they were the ones more likely to pickup more technologically driven items.

In the late 90's and early 00's watches took a back seat and were replaced by the cellphone, no one really wore a watch to tell what time anymore, and the newer generations found them to be redundant when the cellphone just as simply as a watch could tell you what time it was.

There is also the "James Bond effect" every time that a new movie in the franchies comes out people always pay attention to his gadgets whether they be his car, pens, or watches. During the movies theatrical time these items tends to be a hot commodity.

Starting in the late 00's, till now, we did see the watch do a revival as a fashion statement with big bold faces. The big face watches are so trendy that even the President has been seen wearing one!

At present a big pusher in the watch market for the masses is Michael Kors! His most popular watches for men in his las collection were those he did in rose gold. For his current collection the popular watches are those done in rose gold, but there is also an uptake in the colored stainless steel watches! With Michael Kors' growing empire, he's also taking the watch industry by storm!
